We have a supermarket chain here called Albertsons. I was in line waiting to check out when I noticed that the man in front of me seemed overly friendly with the woman ahead of him. I looked at his purchases and noticed that it was a 15 pack of MGD and what looked like Bailey's Irish Cream, I wasn't too sure. Then he turned and stared at me for awhile. And I noticed the flushed face and the glazed eyes. I also noticed that he smelled like a brewery. He was about 6 feet from me and I could smell him. It was his turn to check out. He asked the cashier a question, I couldn't hear what exactly it was that he said. But, she replied, "I'm sorry sir. I cannot sell this alcohol to you." His glassy eyes widened, "Huh?" She replied, "I can smell alcohol on your breath sir. I cannot sell this to you. If you want, I can call the manager over." He gets a little defiant, "I would like that, yes!" She calls the manager. He comes over and she explains the situation. The manager nods his head, "We cannot sell this to you." The drunk replies, "What store is this? Albertsons?" The cashier nods. "I'm going to tell my friends!" He said as he stomped out. I thanked both the cashier and the store manager for doing that. The cashier told me that he had claimed that he was sober. I didn't catch that. But, if that was sober, I would hate to see what he's like drunk. I told them that I would let the corporation know, commending them for doing that. I hate drunk drivers with a passion. I was in an accident with a drunk back in March of 1986. My car was totaled and I was injured. So, this is personal to me.
