Fish & Chips



Ingredients:
  • russet potatoes

  • 16 ounces cod loins

  • 2/3 cup AP flour
  • 1 tbls corn starch
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbls olive oil
  • 6 tbls stout beer
Directions:
  • slice the potatoes, 3/16" x 5/8" strips
  • deep fry in olive oil

  • bowl #1, 2/3 cup flour
  • add corn starch and baking power
  • add salt and pepper, mix
  • bowl #2, beat egg
  • add olive oil and beer, mix
  • stir in from bowl #2 to bowl #1
  • mix to gooey, add a bit more beer if needed
  • coat cod with batter, deep fry in oil for 5 minutes
  • fish and chips to plate, drizzle on malt vinegar
