One of Our Better Investments

Several years ago, more than ten, actually, Sears Catalog was going out of business. Mike and I had admired their above ground pools that were always featured in their summer catalogs. The ones we were interested in were the high-end ones with aluminum sides, 6 inch wide top rails and 6 inch wide support rails. These also sported more powerful pumps and skimmers. They also retailed for about $5000.00 on up. A little bit out of our range. So, one day, we get a card in the mail, "Sears Catalog is going out of Business. Big clearance sale, everything must go..... 75% off of all items!!!" 75%!? That possibly couldn't include their pools! So, I called the 1-800 number. I asked the lady who answered if the 75% reduction also included their above ground pools. "Everything!" she replied. I didn't call Mike to consult on this one. I ordered an 18 foot round aluminum sided pool, with the 6 inch top rail, 6 inch support rail and the pump and filter that is for a 25 feet and up pools. And, since I ordered them together, they threw in the ladder, skimmer, vacuum and some other items for free. We got the whole package for $1250, plus whatever shipping was. It has given us years of enjoyment. I snapped this picture after taking a nice swim right after I got home from work.
