I was reading an article on CNN's website that made my blood start to boil. It was titled, Parents, Grandmother Arrested in Cancer Hoax. It turns out that the parents and grandmother of a little 7 year old girl convinced her and others that the little girl had leukemia in order to collect donations from well-wishers. From the article:
To make Hannah's cancer appear believable, police said, Teresa Milbrandt shaved the girl's hair, gave her sleeping pills, had her wear a protective mask and put her in counseling to prepare for death. Hannah also wore a large bandage to cover a "port" for chemotherapy injections that wasn't there, police said.
The little girl has been taken from the couple and placed in the custody of relatives. Scams like this will hurt people who have legitimate need for donations. Grrrr......
