Store Apology

This is a new one.... At least for me. I was at Target yesterday. I went to the check out lines, only to see that there were only about 5 registers open and the lines were long and starting to snake around the store. I picked the best of the worse and waited. And waited, and waited, and waited. I looked around. None of the lines seemed to be moving. The customer at the front was just standing there looking off into space and the cashiers were just standing around too. Meanwhile, the lines were getting even more longer and people were grumbling and looking at their watches. Suddenly, a door flew open at the front of the store and an employee came out and started handing out some slip of paper to everyone who was waiting in line at the registers. She handed one to me, and I glanced down, figuring that she was going around handing out complaint forms or something. But, as I read it, I got a mild surprise. We apologize for the failure of our store computers, please accept this coupon as a token of our apologies. Or something along those lines. Anyway, it was a $3.00 off coupon that could be used immediately. The grumbling immediately stopped. Everyone seemed happy. It was rather amusing watching the cashiers scan those coupons, because they kept showing up on the scanner display as Store Apology. I've never had anything like that happen before.
