When the Cat's Away....

...Or, in this case, when the family is away, the dogs will play. I came home today to find out that our dogs were misbehaving all day. I was going off to work this week, secure in the knowledge that Cory and Pepper were getting along and Pepper was over her "fence jumping". (It is a 6 foot tall cinderblock wall that she easily clears). Usually, when we leave, we have to put her in her large crate, so she couldn't escape from the house. We tried little experiments where we left her alone for a few hours to see if she would jump the fence. Nope, everything seemed fine. She was home inside the house greeting us at the door when we walked in. But..... Today, we found out that she had been jumping the fence and running around. Only to come back when it was near time for us to be home. She would then jump the fence, back into the yard, and then come through the doggy door into the house. Today, was exceptionally bad. It seems that the meter man came by to read the electric meter. Pepper and Cory both started barking at him. Then, well after he was gone, they continued barking. I guess they were feeding off of each other. Then, Pepper started jumping in and out of the yard, several times. Our neighbor yelled at her once, and she jumped back into our yard. Then, when our neighbor turned her back, Pepper was out again. It's back to the crate, until she learns to behave. Hopefully, tomorrow, things will go better, so I don't have an angry neighbor coming up to me as soon as I pull in front of the house.
