I'm On Top of the World!!!

At least that's the way I felt for awhile. I needed to borrow my dad's Ford pick-up. We are buying mattresses today, for the girls bed, and felt that this would be the easiest way to move them. So, I drove his pick-up home last night. It's been at least 10 years since I have driven a full size American pick-up. I was actually a little nervous. Not only is it huge, but it is also a manual transmission. I am used to manuals on compacts, but not on something so huge. My mother was kind of nervous as I was pulling away from the house. The truck was rolling backward in front of their house, (they live on a hill), until I could get the feel of the clutch. Finally, it caught and I rolled forward, up the hill and around the corner towards home. After a few attempts at trying to shove it into 5th, instead of 3rd (you start out in 2nd on this beast), I had it down.

So, here I am, driving this skyscraper down the street. And loving it!!!! I could see everything! A full size Chevy Suburban pulled up next to me and I looked down on him!!! Woo hoo! I felt like Tim, the Toolman, Taylor from Home Improvement. I kept yelling, "More power!!!" No more being unable to see ahead of me, because of a larger vehicle in front. I am now in the larger vehicle blocking people's views. No people tailgating me. No one cutting me off. *sigh* I am going to miss driving it when we are done with it and have to take it back. Oh well.... You can see just how tiny my little Escort seems now.

I hear ya!
I feel so weird driving my Explorer after driving my 'vette so much. Makes it fun to drive something different.
