Bitten By the Cruise Bug

Several years ago, a friend of ours went on a cruise. He raved and raved about how the crew of the ship fawn all over the passengers. He made it sound like every passenger would have 5 people following them around constantly. Fussing over them and catering to their every whim. It really didn't sound that appealing to Mike and I. We were/are into dirt camping and the thought of being pampered constantly, by people who had their hands out for tips didn't sound very fun. Flash forward to a couple of years ago. My parents, and one of my sisters had started to go on cruises. I asked about this phony fawning over they were taken aback. I know my Mom and she wouldn't enjoy something like that. She said it wasn't like that at all. In fact, she, my dad and sister loved going on cruises. So, for out 20th anniversary, Mike and I decided to go on a short cruise to see if it was our cup of tea. We loved it. We are now hooked. Since we took the one cruise, we our on the mailing list of every freaking cruise line out there. And, we want to go on every one that comes our way. We decided that in October of 2008, we are going to take the cruise above to the Mexican Riviera. After that, at some point, we will go to Alaska. If we had Bill Gates money, we would probably spend the rest of our lives cruising. Or cruise until we get absolutely, positively sick of it.

Never been on one, but I've friends who took the Alaska cruise and loved it. That's the one I'd opt for if I ever take the plunge.

If you can, I would recommend you take a short 3 day cruise like we did. That way, you can get the feel of the thing. And, you can learn if cruising is really your thing. I think you will enjoy it, though.
