Must Be A Slow News Day

With all the shit going on in the world.... My local Fox affiliate started the 10:00pm newscast with the story about the Olympic athlete, Nodar Kumaritashvili, who died after crashing in a practice run on the Luge in Canada. That was a terrible tragedy. And then, I kid you not, followed that story with one about a local family who had their $80,000 Sand Rail stolen. Yes, more important than the shooting in Alabama, a possible suspect being arrested in the abduction and murder of Somer Thompson and our nearly bankrupt city, they talk about someone having an $80,000 RV stolen. And they pulled out all the stops. They even interviewed the owner's crying children. I'm sorry, I don't think the theft of a vehicle is newsworthy. Especially when the owner chimed in that they will buy a replacement, making it sound as if it would be no problem. People are losing their homes, jobs and wondering where their next meal is going to come from and we're supposed to cry over someone having their sand toy stolen. And really, who pays $80,000 for a glorified dune buggy? And they wonder why the media is struggling.
