I know this is weird. I have pet snakes, pet rats and pet mice. My daughter even had a pet tarantula that didn't bother me. Heck, I even had pet Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. But, for some reason, small house spiders scare me! Regular bugs don't, but spiders do. Maybe it's the eight legs. But then, why didn't the tarantula bother me? I was moving and stacking some books today, when suddenly, my daughter told me in a serious voice, "Mom! Stand up and take a step back!" I've heard that tone before, so I did what she said. "What is it?" She told me that she had seen a large spider crawl under the pile of books I was adding to. So, I started to remove the books to see how big he was. (I know! I know! They scare me, but I still had to see how big this sucker was!). Anyway, out pops Spiderzilla. This sucker was big. He was black, and, I'm pretty sure, what we call "meat eaters" (which are the ones that don't spin webs but actually hunt their prey. I let out a piercing scream which I'm sure was heard on the opposite coast. Now, I've been avoiding that pile of books all day. Even though, I'm sure, that I scared that poor spider as much as he scared me.
