My daughter has had her own phone for quite a few months now. It's actually a old line that Mike and I used to use for dial-up internet access and faxing, so the main line wouldn't get busy signals for anyone calling in. Even though we never used this line for calling out, it gets a lot of telelmarketing calls. The only one who really calls my daughter is her best friend. So, she and my daughter came up with a scheme. Whenever the phone rang, my daughter would answer with, "bonjour?". That's the only french she really knows. The telemarketers immediately hang up. Yesterday, her phone rang. She answered it with the customary, "bonjour?" and the person on the other side immediately starts talking back at her, in French! My daughter's jaw dropped and she started saying, "Uh..... Uh....." Then, she immediately hung up. Maybe she will have to switch to German, or something!
