And It's Stock Too!

Back in late '03 when we were buying the Beetle, Greg Duncan the salesman, wanted to know if I wanted to upgrade to a CD player. I thought about it for a second. But, I don't like things that make my car a target. And, I thought a factory installed CD player might be worth it for someone to break a window and steal. So, I have a AM/FM Stereo Cassette player. However, it comes stock with 6 speakers. And, the little bugger puts out some good sound. Which came in handy today. I was waiting for the light to change, when a pickup truck pulled up next to me. The driver thinks he's the ultimate in coolness. His one arm casually draped over the steering wheel while his stereo was blasting outside through his open window. I always drive with the windows up. Even with the windows up, the fan going and my stereo playing, I could hear whatever he was listening to. I admit, when I am driving, on the freeway, or surface streets, I will have the volume up loud on songs I like. But, when I am stopped, with other cars around me, I will turn it down so as not to annoy people around me. Unlike Mr. Annoying now pulled up next to me. When that finished playing, another song came on. Something he must have like, because he upped the volume even more. Okay, I fight fire with fire. I punched the preset button for my local rock oldies station, KLOS 95.5. I prayed to the radio gods that they would be playing some heavy metal. I lucked out. They were playing Led Zeppelin's Misty Mountain Hop. I turned the volume up. Not all the way. All the way makes my ears bleed. Keep in mind, that even with the windows up on that car, the stereo turned up can be heard outside the car rather loud. I kept my eyes straight forward, but out of the corner of my eyes, I could see McDoofus roll his window up. He's lucky I didn't have my mp3 player hooked up. With that going, I can run the bass up and get the car rattling with the best of the boom cars. It would have made him cry like a little girl.
